Szu-Ying Celine Wu
MA, LMFT, EMDRIA-Certified EMDR Therapist™
I was born and raised in Taiwan, and in my early years I studied abroad in Los Angeles, California. The challenges of adapting to a new culture and navigating questions of life and identity shaped me deeply and fostered a heart for walking alongside others in their own struggles. Life’s ups and downs taught me resilience, and I carry that into my work as a therapist.
While in Los Angeles, I worked at a county-contracted community agency serving individuals and families facing serious mental health challenges, including first episodes of psychosis, suicidal struggles, and complex emotional difficulties. Supporting people through such intense experiences humbled me and taught me the importance of meeting each person with compassion and respect.
After moving to Michigan, I gained experienced in a hospital outpatient setting before transitioning into private practice. These opportunities allowed me to work with people from diverse backgrounds and deepen my appreciation for the resilience inherent in every human life.
I work with clients across a wide spectrum – from high-functioning individuals who feel stuck, anxious, or burdened by self-doubt, to those seeking healing from past trauma and significant life challenges. I am an EMDRIA-Certified EMDR Therapist™, trained to help clients process trauma, relieve distress, and reconnect with a sense of meaning and personal strength. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in respect for each person’s story. It would be an honor to accompany you on your journey of healing and growth. Therapy with me isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about helping you come home to yourself – with more clarity, more peace, and more compassion.
When I am not in session, I find joy in simple moments with family and in everyday rhythms – reading, journaling, cooking, and tending to my indoor plants – which keep me grounded and grateful. At times, I step into nature and stand in awe of its vastness, reminded with humility and wonder of the One who created it all.
I obtained my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both Michigan and California.
Certified through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), which sets the professional standards to ensure therapists complete rigorous training, supervised practice, and continuing education in EMDR therapy. I stay current through advanced education and consultation.
